First baths!

Friday Sofia had her first bath!! I enjoyed it way more than she did as you can see from the pictures!








Monday Maia had her first bath, she did not hate it nearly as much as her sister did!

First Pediatric appointments

Monday was our first appointment with our pediatrician which was a little discouraging.

We had lost a little bit more weight in the 2 days since we had left the hospital... Sofia was 5 lbs (5lbs 1 oz on Sat) and Maia was 4 lbs 15.5 oz (5lbs on Sat).
But even worse was Sofie's internal temperature was low and she was a little jaundiced. The doctor wrapped her in a bunch of blankets and had us blast the heat in the car (Monday was the 80 degree day) for the drive to hospital to get her blood drawn.
We then had to go back to the doctor's office to recheck Sofie's temp and wait for the lab results. She was warmer but slightly jaundiced.
No problems with Maia.

Fast forward to today (Wednesday)... where we had our second appointment with the Pedi.
Sofie's bili levels were leveling and her temp was perfect. Again there were no problems with Maia.
And our weights had increased!! Sofia weighed 5 lbs 5.5oz and Maia weighed 5 lbs 2.5 oz.
Now we dont have to go back until Halloween and as long as we gain weight between now and then we shouldnt have to supplement with formula! Yay!

The neverending visiting hours

We were in the hospital for less than 2 days but we sure did have lots of visitors!!

Auntie J helped in delivering us and slept over. Nana, Pops, Auntie Birdi were waiting patiently in the waiting room for our arrival, and Great Auntie Carol stopped by to see how labor was progressing. Leesie & Steve came to visit shortly after we arrived.

On Friday we had family stopping by for 6 hrs straight. Great Auntie Kelly and 2Nana, followed by Auntie Shantell.
Mimi and Uncle Tim who was the first to hold us both at the same time, came with Great Auntie Carol.
Uncle Pete came straight from work to welcome us.
Nana came back and brought Grandpa with her, as well as Nana and Papa H.
And the last to leave was Auntie Birdi who brought our big cousin Conrad with her, and Great Uncle Vinny, Elaine and Shannon.

When we were cleared to go home on Saturday Auntie J, Auntie Birdi and Conrad helped (dress Mom and) get us all loaded in the car. Uncle Paul and Amanda came to our house shortly after we got settled in.

As promised, the last final picture of pregnant me, minutes before I got induced @ 37wks 2days.




Long story short, without too much TMI....

I went to hosp at 7am Thurs morning, got nakie, and was given Pitocin.... Was checked by my doc at lunchtime and was only 5cm dilated so she broke 1st water then I got my Epi... Was checked again at 3ish (after repeatedly saying it felt as if something was trying to crawl out my a**!) and I was fully dilated and could see a baby's head.... My doc was rushed in from the OR and a whole bunch of nurse folks prepped....

They THOUGHT Sofia would be out in 3 pushes.... instead I pushed for 3 hours and she wasnt budging.... why, because she smashing off my tailbone (apparently I am one of those people with a curved tailbone, its fairly common I guess).... My Epi RAN OUT and they used a vaccum to help pull Sofia out and I broke my tailbone....

(obv I dont remember much after this since I had just delivered a baby without pain meds and broken my tailbone, I pretty much blacked out) apparently I was given oxygen, Maia's heart rate had dropped, obscenities were flying, and she was successfully delivered 10 minutes later with the help of a vaccum.

No NICU time needed! We were all released Saturday afternoon.
