The Experiment

Who would have thought that these sweet little faces could be so strong willed and determined not to sleep?!

The girls have decided that 4-5am is a good time to get up and start the day, it was only happening maybe 1-2x a week, but now its become a trend!
After much consideration (and fear of the impending time change this weekend), I have decided to move their whole schedule forward. I am going to put them down for first nap later like 930-10, and their afternoon forward to 2ish and their bedtime forward to 730ish. Maybe then they will sleep later in the morning!

I think this will still give us 'awake' time at the right times during the day to allow us to continue to do all of our activities. We can go to the gym right after breakfast and still make it home in time for a snack and their morning nap. We should be able to wake them up if they dont wake on their own in enough time to make it to Storytime, plus they can have a snack and nap right after music class.

This should also allow us to eat dinner all at the same time instead of Mommy not getting to eat until 7-730 at night and then having to listen to not-sleeping-little-girls over the monitor.

I'll let you know how it turns out! Wish us luck!

My 100th post!

This is my 100th post! Unbelievable! Now I just have to find a way to back this up to a disk and save it for the girls, just in case anything ever happens to Blogger, especially since there seems to be a bug right now and it will not shrink the pictures.
I have to manually adjust their size which is a royal pain so I am only putting two pictures in this post. *sigh*
Once the glitch has been corrected I have a bunch more to post from our visit with Auntie Birdi and Conrad last weekend!

The girls were very happy to see their big cousin and showed them all their toys and their playroom.

Monday was our 1yr check up, the girls had to get 2 shots (as I am doing an alternative vaccination schedule) but were not nearly as upset as I thought they would be. They were very good!
Sofie's weight is leveling off, she is only the 18% for weight now. And my little supermodel, Maia is 3% for weight and 90% for height! (Their new stats are in the right column.)

Wednesday we had a meeting with Early Intervention (EI) for Maia. I have been a little concerned about her gross motor skills since she did not crawl until 11.5mo, and seems to have no desire to stand (until I found her standing in the crib last night!). She does qualify and we are meeting with a therapist next week for an evaluation.

Thursday we had music class, Friday we went to Storytime with Auntie J, and tomorrow she is taking the girls to the Childrens' Museum which means Mommy gets some much needed time off!

Happy First Birthday to Us!

Today is our birthday and we had a party. We were so excited to turn ONE that we woke up at 4am! And no matter what Mommy tried to get us back to sleep, we refused, even our nap was fairly short. Mommy was expecting two unhappy babies melting down all afternoon, but as usual, we surprised her with our stellar behavior!

Our family arrived and we got to visit with everyone.

Maia LOVES babies!

After the gifts were opened, it was time to sing Happy Birthday and eat cake! It only took a few bites for the girls to realize they liked cake, like really liked it, and they could get messy!
They also tried vanilla ice cream for the first time which they loved!

Sofia decided she didnt need a spoon (and yes she did attempt to eat that huge piece in one bite!)

The girls went directly from their highchairs to the bath! Mommy was not even going to attempt to clean them up. They ate dinner and were in bed sleeping at 6pm! Hopefully they will get a good night sleep and not wake up until 6am!

Thank you very much to our family for sharing this memorable day with us! We love you!! xoxo

Visiting and Playing

We went to Storytime for the first time and the girls definitely seemed to like it. It took them a few minutes to get comfortable but they warmed up with the singing, stories and other kids having fun.

Sunday we went to visit Pops, Mimi, Auntie Jill and Uncle Tim. We went for lunch and had a really nice visit. The girls got to show off some of their new 'tricks' and looked super cute doing so.

LUNCHTIME!!

Monday was the holiday so Great Uncle Jeff did not have to work and came over to install the carpet in the girls' new playroom!
Auntie J also did not have to work so she came over and we took the girls shopping for the rest of their birthday present and a few things we needed for the party.
Nana also did not have to work and spent the day cooking all sorts of good food. Tonight the girls are going to try meatballs and tomato sauce for the first time!! Good thing its a bath night!!

Monday we also dropped another nursing session. We are now down to TWO, first thing in the morning and last thing at night. I am not in a hurry to drop either of those and I doubt the girls are either. I cant believe that in only THREE days the girls will be ONE and I will have met my goal of nursing them for a YEAR and never having to give them formula! I am very proud of this huge accomplishment.

I also cant believe that in only THREE days I am going to have 2 ONE YEAR OLDS!! Who would have thought that I would ever have children, nevermind 2 of them at once?! And here I sit saying, "I survived the first year!"
